Did you know that Saint George is also the patron of England? On the 23rd of April we'll celebrate once more Saint George, when girls give boys a book and boys give girls a rose as a symbol of the legend. Which is the legend of this day? I am sure you know the legend since you were little children, so have a go and tell me it in English. The best told will be put in the blog. What else do we celebrate this day? What happened with Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes on this day? That's why we celebrate the day of the book. Look for information and tell me.

St. George travelled for many months until he came to Libya. There, he met a hermit who told him about a dragon living in their country. And every day he demanded a sacrifice of a beautiful girl. But soon, all the young girls were killed, and only the king’s daughter remains. Unless they could find a knight who could slay the dragon, she would be sacrificed. When St. George heard this story, he wanted to save the princess. On the day of the sacrifice, St. George went to the dragon’s cave. As soon as the dragon saw him it rushed from its cave. The dragon was enormous. But St. George was not afraid. He attacked the monster with his spear, but the dragon’s scales were so hard that the spear broke into a thousand pieces and St. George fell from his horse. But St. George soon recovered his strength. He hit the dragon with his sword but the dragon poured poison on him and his armour split in two. St. George was able to recover his strength once more, and, with his sword in his hand, he rushed at the dragon and pierced the sword under the dragon’s wing where there were no scales, and the dragon fell dead at his feat.
